T-Mobile doubles SMS price

T-Mobile has doubled the price of both sending and receiving SMS text messages, from $0.05 per message to $0.10 per message, and subscribers are angry because there is no way to turn off the feature.

T-Mobile says that because it communicates with its customers via SMS, there is no way for customers to disable the service or prevent accidental messages or spam from coming through, for which customers would then be charged.

While some carriers used to offer free incoming SMS text messages, all major wireless carriers now charge between $0.05 and $0.10 per message for receipt of SMS text messages.
