BellSouth lowers FastAccess DSL pricing

BellSouth on Monday announced it would lower the price of its FastAccess DSL Xtreme service, which provides up to 3Mbps downstream speed and up to 384Kbps upstream speed, from $42.95 per month to $37.95 per month.

In addition, new customers who sign up for BellSouth FastAccess DSL service can receive a free $50 Visa gift card, and if they agree to a 12-month commitment, can receive a free DSL modem valued at $75. Existing customers who upgrade to a higher level of service can receive a $20 Visa gift card.

“BellSouth is committed to the needs of every customer,” said Kim Whitehead, BellSouth vice president of consumer marketing. “That’s why we offer the widest range of high-speed Internet options in the marketplace. And now, customers who need more speed can sign up for FastAccess DSL Xtreme for one of the most competitive prices in our market for similar products.”

BellSouth offers four tiers of DSL service throughout its nine-state service area:

  • FastAccess DSL Xtreme 6.0, which is only available in limited areas, provides up to 6Mbps downstream and up to 512Kbps upstream speeds for $46.95 per month.
  • FastAccess DSL Xtreme is now $37.95 per month.
  • FastAccess DSL Ultra, which provides up to 1.5Mbps downstream and up to 256Kbps upstream speeds, is $32.95 per month.
  • And for those on a tight budget who still need broadband speeds, FastAccess DSL Lite provides up to 256Kbps downstream speeds and up to 128Kbps upstream speeds for $24.95 per month.

                                                                                  We were told that we would receive 50.00 cash reward for the full choice package with DSL the message board tells me unable at this moment also we were not told that our bill would have a month advanced bill attached to the first month which made our bill extremely high. We were told that our first bill would be 72.00 and it is 152.57.

                                                                                  The Bellsouth telemarketer told me that since I already had the Preferred Choice Plan and dial up internet service, that by signing up for DSL, there would be no additional cost for services. I was only paying 9.95 a month for dial up and now they are charging me 32.50 a month. It is not the money, it is the LIES.

                                                                                  Don’t hold your breath waiting on any rewards from Bellsouth. I have been
                                                                                  waiting since May for a $100 visa gift card, and have contacted them many
                                                                                  times. They keep telling me there was a delay and I would have to wait. The last time I
                                                                                  called I spoke with a supervisor (or so he said he was) and he promised me I would receive it
                                                                                  within 3 weeks.

                                                                                  The 3 weeks was up yesterday and still no card. I am getting ready to go back to MCI.

                                                                                  I was refused my rebate by BellSouth. They sent a post card stating that I “was outside the promtion period.” My question is “Why did they offer it on their website if it was outside the period?”
                                                                                  It’s complete BS! It’s just a scam to get business. A class action suit should be filed against them as I am sure many millions of dollars are at stake.

                                                                                  I was told when I got my cingular phone and service I would recieve 100.00 cash back.Now I AM TOLD IT WILL BE 75.00.Whatever it is I would like to recieve it.It has been 6 weeks.

                                                                                  About getting the DSL Modem Rebate:

                                                                                  Call 1-866-342-4271 and speak to a Gift Reward Representative. Be very very nice… they will help you get your rebate check mailed. The really nice lady I just spoke to told me that the website customer service had not been very good at sending the information over to the reward center for processing. Apparently, it’s been happening a lot. Anyway, explain your situation and they will do their best to help you. She then gave me another website:
                                                                                  http://www.vipgiftprocessing.com to check AFTER she got the check processed. That site said it will be a month before the check gets mailed, but she said it may be sooner. Hope that helps!!

                                                                                  I too was told I did not qualify for the modem rebate because I ordered DSL Lite with the term agreement for $10 per month. I told the CSR when I called that nowhere did it indicate I was ineligible for the modem rebate. I was aware I would not get the $50 rebate for upgrading from Dial Up to DSL. Anyway, I must have made my point because I checked the http://www.vipgiftprocessing.com website listed above and it says I am getting my modem rebate. Thanks for posting that link!

                                                                                  I was told I would receive $100.00 rebate ,then told I would only be getting $50.00 .
                                                                                  That was 3 months ago. I still haven’t received it! Don’t beleave every thing your told.
