Paris Hilton T-Mobile hacker gets 11 months

The 17-year-old juvenile who hacked into Paris Hilton’s T-Mobile SideKick received 11 months in juvenile detention, along with a restriction that he not use computers or cellular phones for two years after release.

The juvenile, whose identity is protected by law, entered a guilty plea in Boston, Mass. district court for nine counts of juvenile delinquency relating to his hacking into the SideKick and several other exploits.

You might recall that this person published what was believed to be Paris Hilton’s private phone directory from the SideKick, showing the private phone numbers for several celebrities. I was able to obtain a copy of this directory, and spot checks on some of the numbers revealed them to have been accurate at the time. Many of those affected changed their telephone numbers.

The juvenile was also accused of breaking into America Online and LexisNexis.
